Concrete Lifting in West Branch, MI

Review Logo 4.9 (584)

West Branch experiences a range of weather conditions that can negatively impact your concrete surfaces. The sandy loam soil, coupled with seasonal precipitation, can cause concrete slabs to settle and crack over time. The freeze-thaw cycles typical of Michigan winters exacerbate this issue, particularly for driveways and sidewalks. FSM utilizes advanced polyurethane injections to lift and stabilize your concrete, ensuring it is level and safe to use within just 15 minutes, thanks to our durable and waterproof PolyRenewal solution.

Foundation Systems of Michigan (FSM), a Groundworks Company, is committed to providing West Branch residents with high-quality foundation repair, basement waterproofing, crawl space encapsulation, concrete lifting, gutter services, and generator solutions. Our top priority is delivering personalized service and effective home repair solutions throughout Michigan. With our skilled technicians, premium products, and nationally backed warranties, FSM is here to help restore and enhance the integrity of your home.

"Robert Walraven, a FSM Service Technician, arrived on time for an annual inspection of the work FSM had previously completed. To my surprise we found considerable water in the crawl space. The water was due to a cracked pipe in our artesian well pit allowing water to flow on top of the liner that FSM had installed. Although this was not an FSM issue, Robert modified the liner to allow the water flow to go into the tiling and on to the sump that FSM had installed. This gave me time to repair the cracked pipes without additional flooding. He then offered to come back at no additional charge and finish the annual inspection at no additional charge once the well pit repair had been completed. Very professional and very much appreciated"

Types of Concrete Damage in West Branch

Common Causes of your Concrete Problems in West Branch

Poor Soil Compaction

The soil beneath the concrete may not have been compacted enough during construction. Over time, the loose soil shifts and settles, causing the concrete to sink or crack.

Soil Erosion

Water from rain, sprinklers, or poor drainage can wash away the soil under the slab. This creates empty spaces, making the concrete sink or become uneven.

Climate Conditions

When saturated, clay soil expands, and when dry, it contracts. These constant changes in moisture levels weaken the support beneath the concrete.

Freeze-Thaw Cycles

Water in the soil freezes and expands during winter, then thaws and contracts. This movement puts pressure on the concrete, leading to cracks or lifting over time.

Tree Roots

Roots from nearby trees or shrubs can grow underneath concrete. As they grow, they push up on the slab, causing uneven surfaces or cracks.

Heavy Loads

Parking heavy vehicles or placing large items on concrete can compact the soil underneath. Weak soil cannot often support the weight, causing the slab to sink or crack.

Poor Drainage

Excessive rainwater or water pooling near concrete slabs can lead to soil washout, weakening the soil under the concrete.
