Foundation Systems of Michigan Volunteers with Habitat for Humanity

The Foundation Systems of Michigan (FSM) team has been getting their hands dirty for a worthy cause. As part of the companywide Build Together 2023 initiative, employees assisted in home builds in their local communities.

Groundworks®, the parent company of Foundation Systems of Michigan, donated $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity International to support long-term stability through safe and affordable housing. The partnership is part of the Goodworks by Groundworks program that encourages employees to volunteer. 4,500 employees across the country will have the opportunity to volunteer with local Habitat chapters this year.

Livonia & Rochester Hills

In August, team members from the Livonia and Rochester Hills offices joined forces to help build a home in Byron, Michigan. Ten employees from the two offices spent an entire day at the build site assisting the Livingston County Habitat for Humanity on wall construction for a local home.

Livingston County HFH was grateful for FSM’s support in creating a new environment for a deserving member of the community.

Grand Rapids

In October, the Grand Rapids team volunteered to work on a home for a local resident. Habitat for Humanity of Kent County hosted 7 employees at a home remodel in Grand Rapids. Volunteers installed new flooring to help increase energy efficiency and accessibility and prepare the home to be move-in ready.

This remodel was a part of HFH of Kent County’s Acceleration Homeownership program, which helps future homeowners that are approved for a mortgage find an affordable home in the area.

FSM employees were excited for the opportunity to put their construction skills to good use!

Traverse City
FSM’s final build took place in November in partnership with Wexford Osceola Habitat for Humanity. Traverse City employees were on site for a full day helping to install windows for a brand-new home.

Their efforts were featured on WBPN (NBC) Traverse City.

“We could not do what we do without the help of our community,” said Executive Director at Wexford Osceola Habitat for Humanity Amy Gibbs. “It was great to see all that FSM accomplished. Thank you so much for supporting our organization.”
