WHAT SIZE GENERATOR DO YOU NEED?
The size of your generator depends on how much power you need. Do you want to back up your whole home or part of your house? It usually comes down to your budget and how comfortable you want to be during an outage. Your FSM inspector will walk you through, step by step, to determine the right unit for you and your family.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING INSTALLATION
Installing a standby generator requires highly trained professionals that comply to various national, state and local codes. Fortunately, your inspector and installer at FSM can help! Our team is trained and certified by Cummins. FSM has a master electrician on staff to oversee each installation.
The following is a guide for a typical installation:
- A whole home transfer switch is installed, either inside or outside your home. This is an electrical device that connects your home to power from either your generator or your utility provider.
- Fuel lines are run from your gas meter to the generator’s future location.
- The generator is installed outside your home. Your FSM inspector will help you determine the correct location based on a variety of factors and compliance to codes.
- The transfer switch is then wired to the generator and house electrical panel. A data cable is installed from the generator to customers existing router.
- The fuel lines are now connected to the generator, following local code.
- That’s it! FSM has a full service team so you can have ultimate peace of mind.
